Optical frequency comb spectroscopy.

Optical frequency combs offer enormous potential in the detection and control of atoms and molecules by combining their vast spectral coverage with the extremely high spectral resolution of each individual comb component. Sensitive and multiplexed trace gas detection via cavity-enhanced direct frequency comb spectroscopy has been demonstrated for various molecules and applications; however, pre...

Mid-infrared dual-comb spectroscopy with an optical parametric oscillator.

We present the first implementation of mid-infrared dual-comb spectroscopy with an optical parametric oscillator. Methane absorption spectroscopy was demonstrated with a resolution of 0.2 cm(-1) (5 GHz) at an acquisition time of ~10.4 ms over a spectral coverage at 2900-3050 cm(-1). The average power from each individual mid-infrared comb line was ~1 μW, representing a power level much greater ...

Sensitivity and resolution in frequency comb spectroscopy of buffer gas cooled polyatomic molecules

spectroscopy [1, 2]. While the use of combs as frequency references is now ubiquitous, they can also be directly employed for optical spectroscopy using techniques known as direct frequency comb spectroscopy [3]. By coupling frequency combs to high-finesse optical cavities, cavityenhanced direct frequency comb spectroscopy (CE-DFCS) combines broad spectral bandwidth, high spectral resolution, a...

Multiplex Molecular Fingerprinting with a Mid-Infrared Cr2+:ZnSe Femtosecond Laser

A 130-fs Cr:ZnSe laser is used to record, in 13 s, molecular spectra covering simultaneously 135 nm at 3.6 GHz resolution. The high signal-to-noise ratio of 3800 suggests 0.2 ppbv detection level for HF molecule. ©2008 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 140.4050 Mode-locked lasers, 140.3070 Infrared and far-infrared lasers, 300.6300 Spectroscopy, Fourier transforms, 300.6390 Spectroscopy, m...

Sculpting narrowband Fano resonances inherent in the large-area mid-infrared photonic crystal microresonators for spectroscopic imaging.

Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) imaging spectrometers are almost universally used to record microspectroscopic imaging data in the mid-infrared (mid-IR) spectral region. While the commercial standard, interferometry necessitates collection of large spectral regions, requires a large data handling overhead for microscopic imaging and is slow. Here we demonstrate an approach for mid-IR spectro...
